Lamees Zaber oversees Al Waha’s strategic impact, public relations and startup ecosystem support in Bahrain of its underlying portfolio of venture capital funds. After years working in the corporate world for firms including BBK and American Express, Lamees joined Al Waha’s parent organisation Bahrain Development Bank in 2012 and has since played a critical role in the launch and ongoing success of the Fund of Funds.
Her day-to-day role involves fostering increased investor-startup relations in Bahrain and the wider region by holding meetings and office hours with portfolio fund managers, organising networking events, building connections and liaising co-investment opportunities between startups and potential investors. Lamees also maintains a focus on identifying the next opportunity for Al Waha to bring new funding, ideas and technology to the Middle East.
Lamees, working closely with the rest of the team, was previously involved in mentorship, coaching and workshops through BDB’s Rowad Program, a holistic support scheme designed to empower startups.
Lamees graduated from AMA University with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems and is a Certified Business Coach from the Chartered Management Institute in the UK.
